Public events

According to the Rescue Act, the organizer of a public event must ensure that the event is organized safely. The event must not cause harm to people, the environment or property. Public events are regulated by many authorities.

Public events are public gatherings described in the related act (530/1999 Clause 2) such as recreational events open to the public, contests, performances and similar events that are not considered public meetings.

Make a rescue plan

A rescue plan is required for a public event estimated to gather together at least 200 people simultaneously, or if the nature of the event causes particular risks. The rescue plan must be delivered to the local rescue authority no less than 14 days prior to the event.

In the event that the public event involves fireworks, a fire performance or pyrotechnics, it must be reported to the police and the rescue authority.
